Mary R. Hancock, of Princeton, a cherished figure in the community of Princeton, Kentucky, entered eternal rest on July 17, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on May 21, 1927, in Princeton, she dedicated over fifty years of her life to the Princeton Hosiery Mills, where her steadfast work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know her.
In addition to her acclaimed career, Mary was renowned for her nurturing spirit, embodying the role of caregiver to her beloved parents. Her life was a testament to devotion, loyalty, and love—a shining example of how one can uplift those around them through selfless acts of kindness. She never married and did not have children, yet her heart swelled with affection for her family, holding them close to her soul throughout her life.
Mary’s faith served as a guiding light, shaping her values and interactions with the world. She approached life with warmth and an optimistic spirit, creating a rich tapestry of cherished memories that defined her journey. Among her many passions, she harbored a profound love for travel, often reveling in the joy of vacationing with family. Holiday World held a special place in her heart, where she experienced the thrill of her first water ride—a memory that sparkled amidst her many adventures. Further adding to her joyful nature, she took pleasure in visiting Opryland, where the festivities fueled her spirit.
An accomplished pianist, Mary found solace in music, pouring her emotions into the melodies that flowed from her fingertips. She delighted in leisure activities, often spending time fishing, and engaging her mind with word and jigsaw puzzles. Each endeavor she undertook reflected her vivacious personality, showcasing her ability to find happiness in life's simple pleasures.
Mary leaves behind her cherished brothers, Donnie E. Hancock, Sr. and his wife Glennda of Princeton, and Billy J. Hancock of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew, all of whom will carry her memory as a beacon of love and compassion.
Though Mary has left this world, she joined her brothers Louard C. Hancock, Buell W. Hancock, John T. Hancock and her sisters Katherine Richardson, Kathy Hancock, in eternal rest.
A visitation in honor of Mary R. Hancock will be held on July 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Goodman Funeral Home, located at 1032 West Main St, Princeton, KY. In this gathering, friends and family will come together to celebrate the remarkable life she led and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
