Karen S. Slusser

Karen S. Slusser (Blazier), age 79, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 11, 1947, in Princeton, Kentucky, and has left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Karen was the cherished daughter of the late Dr. Ralph Blazier and Celeste Nelson Blazier.  She was a proud graduate of Caldwell County High School, Class of 1965, where she forged lifelong friendships and established a strong foundation for her future. Karen went on to attend Western Kentucky University, majoring in physical education, following her passion for learning.

A gifted artist, Karen’s talent shone brightly through her paintings, drawings, and intricate woodburning pieces. Karen found deep joy in tending her vegetable garden. Another of her greatest pleasures was riding horses alongside her devoted husband, Benny Slusser. Together they celebrated over fifty years of partnership and shared adventures, making memories among the rolling Kentucky fields they loved so dearly.

Karen’s family was at the heart of her world. She is survived by her beloved husband, Benny Slusser; her children: Randy Taylor (LeeAnn) of Murray, Lisa Webster (Mike) of Fredonia, and Tami Melton (Paul) of Eureka, MO; and her treasured sister, Sandra "Kay" Blazier of Louisville. Karen’s loving legacy continues through her grandchildren: Cole Webster (Delaney), Bailey Oglesby (Dakota), Karter Melton, Kendra Melton, Samantha Shipley (Zack), Ann Young (Jordan), and Gabe Taylor (Micah). She was further blessed with great-grandchildren: Dannie Grace Webster, Tatum Webster, Benson Webster, Emaline Lee Shipley, Katherine Shipley, and soon to be Baby Boy Young (December 2026), and Baby Girl Josie Lynn (August 2026). She guided and supported each member of her family with wisdom, patience, and unconditional love, touching their lives in ways words can scarcely capture.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Ralph Blazier and Celeste Nelson Blazier, whose memories she honored throughout her life.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Goodman Funeral Home, 1032 West Main St., Princeton, KY. Following this, a graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery, Bethlehem Cemetery Rd., Fredonia, KY, at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Mark Bell officiating.  

Karen S. Slusser’s absence will be deeply felt, yet her memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who had the privilege of knowing her.
