Fredonia

Joan Adelle Moore, of Fredonia, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away at Rivercrest Place in Paducah, Kentucky, on July 10, 2025, just a day after she celebrated her 88th birthday. Born on July 9, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio. Joan's life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and a boundless spirit that earned her the affection of those who knew her.

As a devoted wife of a Navy service member, Joan spent 23 years navigating the complexities of military life. With her heart full, she embraced the challenges that came with moving from Memphis, Tennessee to Key West, Florida, and later to San Diego, California, where she began her career working in a chicken processing plant. Her journey did not stop there; she blossomed into roles that showcased her nurturing nature and dedication to her community, eventually becoming a school nurse and teacher's aide. Ultimately, her path led her to Atlanta, where she contributed her talents as a bookkeeper for an orthopedic office, bringing order and care into the lives of many. Joan concluded her journey in Kentucky, where she dedicated over fifteen years of her life to Rickie Williams CPA office as a bookkeeper.

Joan's pride and joy came from her family, as they were the heart and soul of her existence. She is survived by her beloved sons, Thomas L. Moore of Douglasville, GA, Patrick Moore of Fredonia, and Robert Moore (Maria) of Oswego, IL; her daughters, Julie Jones (Andy) of Fredonia, and Lisa Moore of Atlanta, GA; her dear brother, Michael Kurjan (Sharon) of Youngstown, OH; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Myer, Ryan Arasi, Daniel Moore, Kyle Moore, and Jack Moore. The sparkle in her life was further brightened by her great-grandchildren, including Kruz Preciato, Logan Moore, Genieve “Evie” Moore, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joan embraced life with infectious laughter and an unwavering belief in the brighter side of things, qualities that touched everyone around her. She faced life's challenges with grace and strength, and her legacy will forever be rooted in the joy and love she cultivated within her family. Though she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion L. Moore, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Niki Moore; her brothers, Ted Brooks and John Kurjan; and her parents, John and Helen Kurjan, the warmth of her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
