She was born October 1, 1940, to the late Ray and Imogene Polk Doom. She graduated in 1959 from Lyon County Senior High School in Kuttawa, KY.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Don Sanders; one brother Jimmy Ray Doom (Sue) of Eddyville, KY; one sister, Romona Engler (Herschel) of Eddyville, KY; niece, Pam Doom of Eddyville, KY; nephew, Jeff Doom (Deanna) of Eddyville, KY; nephew Joey Doom (Stephanie) of Lexington, Ky; niece Emily Brown (Rodney) of Eddyville, KY; nephew Brock Engler, Eddyville, KY, step-daughter Lei Loni Karp (Mark) of Mattoon, WI; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Joe Doom and great nephew, Cullan Brown.
