Anna Dean Hammond

Anna Dean Hammond, age 86, of Princeton, passed away on August 27, 2026, in Princeton. She was born the daughter of the late Cecil Hobby and Dorothy Gray Hobby on January 21, 1940, in Princeton. She was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church. She lived a life marked by her faithful service to her community, and steady professional accomplishment.

After earning a bachelor's degree from Murray State University, Anna Dean worked for the State of Kentucky as a Certified Public Accountant and retired after her years of service. She gave generously of her time and leadership, serving as the School Board Chairman of Caldwell County for several years and also as chairman of the Board of Education for the State of Kentucky.

Anna Dean is survived by her son, Michael Hammond (Suzann) of Shreveport and her daughter, Cecile Mitchell (Roger) of Princeton. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Rachel Noonan (Leo) of Oak Grove, Amanda Irwin (Tim) of Stafford, Virginia, Sarah Wooldridge (Steve) Shreveport, Louisiana, and Matthew Hammond (Catie) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Makayla, Brady, Conner Irwin of Stafford, Virginia, Daniel Mitchell of Oak Grove, Kentucky, Carter, Luke, Halle, Ryan Wooldridge of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Jack, Emma, and Lucy Hammond of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, each of whom was part of the family she cherished.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Malchom Ray "Ryder" Hammond, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Private graveside services to be held at a later date.
